SCHOLARSHIPS 'LEARNING IS LIVING'

The very poor population of Guatemala is mostly illiterate and is forced to work for very low wages, in a job without a future. Because many parents cannot afford the school fees for their children, they start working at a very early age.

To provide a future for these children, The Flor Ayuda Foundation started the project for scholarships in 2003. In this project we collect money for pupils of primary, secondary and vocational education.
A committee of volunteers and parents perform the fair selection and support of the pupils, under the guidance of a professional. With a yearly donation you can help one or more children to get a better future!

DESCRIPTION OF THE 'LEARNING IS LIVING' PROJECT

As from January the new school year starts in Guatemala and with it the scholarship project ‘Learning is Living’ of Flor Ayuda. Every child is entitled to a beautiful future and with a scholarship we can support the education of many children every year!

Results
Parents want their children to have a better future. Children are naturally curious and have the capacities, but without school they get nowhere. Going to school also provides social embeddedness. This way they are not lured into youth gangs with a criminal future ahead of them. They know better after they are educated!

Donating
You support one or more children of one school class. This depends on what the parents themselves can contribute. Some of the parents are able to afford part of the school fees. Most families in Guatemala are not able to do this. Donations from the ‘Learning is Living’ project make going to school possible for children from the poorest families!

Example: you donate € 375,- per year. 1 child needs 50% of the amount and 2 more children need 25% each. This way you make sure that 3 children can go to school!

The Flor Ayuda Foundation battles for a better future for these children and thanks to the help and support of our donators we can realize this for more and more children: Learning is Living!

We keep you posted!
When you decide to start donating for the ‘Learning is Living’ project we will send you a twice yearly update. In the first update we send images (pictures and possibly video’s) and a readable report of the past half year.
The second update is at the end of the school year, then we send you the results and of course another selection of images! In this update we also share information about future development plans of the school, the number of pupils in the school and more information about the activities during the school year.

Weekend activity: hike to the volcano. Above the clouds for the first time.
First school day for children with a (supplementary) scholarship.
