Methods
The board members are unpaid volunteers and in general they pay for their own travel costs, fund drives, administrative and other costs.
It is our goal to keep operating costs under 2% of the raised funds; it is our principle that people who donate do so for the benefit of the people in Guatemala.

Counterpart-organisation in Guatemala
Flor Ayuda works exclusively with Asociación Guatemalteca de Desarrollo Integral (AGDI) in Guatemala. This association for integral development has a Board and a Director, Vitalino Cuca, with whom we have been working for several years.

AGDI formulates its projects (often in cooperation with Flor Ayuda) depending on actual needs in Guatemala and asks Flor Ayuda for sponsorship. When Flor Ayuda’s Board approves a project the needed funds are raised and the money will be transmitted to AGDI.

AGDI executes the projects and reports to Flor Ayuda. Periodically a delegation of Board members visits Guatemala to check and evaluate the ongoing projects.

Fundraising
In order to realize new projects and expand its activities Flor Ayuda welcomes help. Thanks to the generosity of many private donors, businesses, schools, hospitals, churches and organizations Flor Ayuda has already been able to help many poor people in Guatemala.

Since 2004 Flor Ayuda has a Fundraising Committee. This committee consists of 12 persons who feel a strong connection to Guatemala and the Mayan population. This committee consists of the following members:

Fiscal aspects
Generally donations are tax deductible..


Auditing
Auditing by an independent auditor takes place every year. This service is provided pro bono. A copy of the annual fiscal reports is sent to the IRS of The Netherlands.
