Fund raising Activities

Following are some activities that have been organized in the past to raise funds for Flor Ayuda:

Flea markets
In the first years of Flor Ayuda’s existence it was still possible to collect goods and send containers full to Guatemala. This was halted because of Guatemalan Customs requirements. The new idea was to have a stand at flea markets and provide information about Flor Ayuda’s projects and sell used and handmade items to raise funds. In 2006 alone EUR 1,030 were collected this way.

Book Fair
One school organizes a book fair every year in the building of their County Government. The profits go to a previously determined projects. When there is an extra good sale additional projects can be supported. Flor Ayuda received EUR 1,500.

Various Schools have come up with their own ideas
One school organizes a ‘geranium fair’ every spring. The students sell geraniums and the profits are divided between several good causes, one of which was Flor Ayuda. It was very special that Vitalino Cuca happened to be in the Netherlands at that time and could personally accept a check for EUR 1,500.

Action week

Another elementary school organized an “action week”. The 500 students of this school attended an educational meeting presented by Flor Ayuda volunteers. The children made crafts, organized a fair and sold these items to parents. At the end of the week the students had raised a total of EUR 1,500

Yet another elementary school celebrated their 50th anniversary with fundraisers for Flor Ayuda with a fair, a musical and a church service. The whole week was celebrated with a Guatemalan theme. Again Flor Ayuda volunteers were present for a whole day to provide information about the projects that Flor Ayuda is working on, among others the building of a second floor at the Dr. Theo Bloem School.

Presentations to Service Organizations
Flor Ayuda Board members have made presentations about their work and projects in Guatemala to various Rotary Clubs and Lions Clubs. They have created a sense of awareness and interest for Flor Ayuda.

Inner Wheel de Kempen
A Womens’Group organized a bridge tournament for Flor Ayuda and collected EUR 800 .
